Why Ameen connects faith and practical learning

Our children will grow up beside machines that can think. We believe they need to carry knowledge with both hands, the hand of faith and the hand of skill. Here is why Ameen refuses to separate the two.

For a long time, education in our region has offered families two separate roads. One road leads to the Qur’an, the masjid and good character. The other leads to science, numbers, computers and a career. Children are often asked to walk one and give up the other.

At Ameen Islamic Institute we don’t accept that choice.

The first word was “Read”

The first revelation to the Prophet ﷺ began with Iqra: “Read in the name of your Lord who created” (Al-‘Alaq 96:1). Reading and the Creator, knowledge and creation, came together in a single verse. They were never meant to be pulled apart. For us, studying the world with curiosity is part of knowing the One who made it.

What this looks like in a school day

The Qur’an, Hadith and akhlaq are the ground our timetable stands on. Children learn the Qur’an with understanding, not only by memory. Alongside it, they learn to read, count, ask questions, solve problems and work with technology. These lessons are not a reward for finishing “religious” studies, and they are not a competitor to them. They grow from the same root: ‘ilm nafi’, knowledge that benefits.

Morning assembly: the director shares the hadith of the day. Students hear it, think about one question, take one small action and review it on Friday.

Why now

Our Principal, Software Engineer Abbas Khan, puts it simply:

Our children will grow up beside machines that can think. Our task is to raise children who think for themselves, and know why they think.

Skill without faith can lose its direction. Faith without skill can leave a child unable to serve. Our Director, Engineer Maulana Irfan Ali, describes knowledge as an amanah:

We teach children to carry it with both hands: the hand of faith and the hand of skill.

A moment of dua. Moral growth is one of six dimensions in every student’s profile, alongside physical, social, temperamental, educational and intellectual growth.

Open about our work

We are a young institute, established in 2025 in Swat. Our first eight-week pilot runs from 12 October to 6 December 2026. Each programme has its own public profile on this website, including educational gaming, a whole-child learning profile, child protection, and girls’ health and self-defence education. On those profiles we report what we plan, what we deliver and what we find. Where something has not been measured yet, we say “Not yet reported.”

Our hope is that a child from Swat, rooted in the deen and confident in skill, can stand anywhere in the world.
